(Mehdi) Dastani (<a href=\"http:\/\/tempuri.org\/tempuri.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Utrecht university<\/a>, the Netherlands)<br \/>\n<strong>Title:<\/strong> Emotions and their logic<br \/>\n<strong>Abstract:&nbsp;<\/strong>Emotion is a cognitive mechanism that directs an agent\u2019s thoughts and attention to what is relevant, important, and significant. Such a mechanism is crucial for the design of resource-bounded agents that must operate in highly-dynamic, semi-predictable environments and which need mechanisms for allocating their computational resources efficiently. This presentation starts with some historical thoughts and studies on human emotions, and introduces a logical characterization of emotions that is inspired by some recent cognitive emotion theories.
